Shallow Water Muskies

With water temps getting close to their peak, this also means a muskies metabolism is at its peak. This time of year, deep dwelling muskies will move up shallow in search of food.

Shallow sand and rocks are a great place to find fish. When I say shallow, I'm talking 2-3' shallow. You want to focus on windblown shorelines and points.

My two favorite baits for shallow water fishing are top waters and smaller fast burning bucktails. Glide baits are also a solid choice. This time of year, you can still find fish on deeper weeds and flats but there is a good congregation of hungry fish super tight to shore.
